Walter Benjamin Conference 2019

About Us

Walter Benjamin’s Beginnings

The International Walter Benjamin Conference 2019 is organized by the International Walter Benjamin Society, the Walter Benjamin Kolleg at the University of Bern, and the Robert Walser-Zentrum.

Organizer

International Walter Benjamin Society

The International Walter Benjamin Society brings together scholars and interested readers from around the world. The Society organizes major biannual conferences on Walter Benjamin and related topics, as well as serving as a clearinghouse for information on other conferences, many of them organized by members of the Society. The Society’s website also publishes announcements – and in some cases reviews – of new publications on Benjamin.

Walter Benjamin Kolleg

The Walter Benjamin Kolleg brings together research activities of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Bern. In inter- and transdisciplinary projects, doctoral students, junior fellows and other young researchers examine key questions of the Humanities, Social and Cultural Sciences. In all of this, the Kolleg’s role is to provide the framework for creative solutions when approaching problems which concern all of us.
